Predicting the strength of ramie fiber reinforced epoxy composites with different orientation angles is for calculating the tensile strength that occurs in its material for applications on automotive industry components. The research methodology used in the manufacture of composite material is filament winding method and theoreticalcalculationwhich to find out the tensile strength of composites isby usingMadCad software then perform the testing. In this research it was studied the effect of ramie fiber volume fraction towards the tensile properties of ramie fiber reinforced epoxy with 30%, 40%, and 50% volume fraction of ramie fiber. At orientation angle of 0o and 90o following the ASTM D 3039/D 3039M standard. The result test of tensile strength with 30%, 40%, and 50% volume fraction are 25.631 MPa, 16.465 MPa, and12.277 MPa with elastic modulus 2.178 GPa,3.254 GPa, and 3.391 GPa, with the fiber orientation angle of unidirectional lamina type is 90o. For fiber orientation angle of unidirectional lamina type in 0o direction with 30%, 40%, and 50% volume fraction are139.219 Mpa,223.392 MPa, and 248.677 MPa, and the elastic modulus are6.326 GPa, 6.781 GPa, and8.301 GPa. The standard tensile strength of bumper is 8.09 MPa so that ramie fiber epoxy composites is suitable to be the alternative material in the manufacture of automotive components if reviewed from the tensile strength.
