Abstract


Thrust reverser is a system controls direction of engine fan air exhaust for forward and reverse thrust. One of the purpose of thrust reverser is to aid in braking. Lately there have been several pilot reports regarding the failure of thrust reverser system especially on Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Based on data obtained from Aircraft Maintenance Log Book (AML) from 2 January 2018 to 30 April 2019, there are 188 failure reports of thrust reverser B737-800 system. The most failure occurs is intermittent fault. The method used by observing, analyzing data and study of literature. Data analysis using fishbone diagram to identify the cause of failure in thrust reverser. Making it easier for technician/engineer to perform a proper maintenance. All maintenance procedure must be according to fault isolation manual (FIM) and aircraft maintenance manual (AMM) b737-800 ATA 78. Based on result, intermittent fault occurs due to fault memory which stored in Engine Accessory Unit (EAU). It’s possible that EAU still detects previous failure which make REVERSER light on. Therefore, it’s necessary to do fault reset on EAU when REVERSER light on, so that memory in EAU are erased.
